Who we are

Hawaii Families as Allies (HFAA) is a statewide parent-controlled family network organization, recognized in Hawaii and nationally as a voice on behalf of families of children and adolescents with emotional and/or behavioral challenges. HFAA is the Hawaii state chapter of the Federation of Families for Children's Mental Health, a national organization that has been at the forefront in effectively advocating for service system change so that families are valued and treated as true partners. The unique component to HFAA is that all of our staff, with the exception of the office manager, are parents of children who have or have had mental, emotional or behavioral challenges. This enables our agency to truly be a 'parent to parent' organization, when we get calls to our warm line, you will be speaking with a parent who can understand your challenges and help you through their own personal experiences.

Vision

Hawaii Families As Allies, dedicated to the mental, emotional and behavioral well-being of Hawaii's children, youth, families and communities.

Mission

Hawaii Families As Allies, as the focal point of a dynamic ohana network, promotes equal partnerships between families who have children with emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges, providers, and policy makers by training, informing, and supporting self advocacy and system transformation throughout all cultures within the State.
